Hyderabad: BRS Opposition leader in the Legislative Council S Madhusudhana Chari accused Congress and BJP of systematic betrayal of BCs. He said both parties had historically denied BCs political power, budgetary support and representation.

In a statement, Madhusudhana Chari charged the Congress with hypocrisy and deceit over its failure to implement 42 per cent BC reservations, conduct a comprehensive caste census, or honour promises made in the Kamareddy BC Declaration, including the BC Sub-Plan with Rs 20,000 crore annual allocation.

“For 75 years, Congress made BCs live as second-class citizens and now is seeking their votes through false promises,” he said.

The BRS legislator ridiculed remarks by TPCC chief Mahesh Kumar Goud and Minister Ponnam Prabhakar against his party. He stated that BJP was no less culprit in deceiving BCs and its excuses for implementing BC reservations exposed its contempt for BCs. He questioned what stopped the BJP from amending the Constitution and providing BC reservations in Telangana, as it was done to increase reservations in Tamil Nadu.

He said the previous K Chandrashekhar Rao government had empowered BCs with key posts, self-respect buildings, welfare schemes and nearly 300 BC Gurukuls.

“We will continue to expose the Congress’s betrayal until the Kamareddy BC Declaration is fully implemented,” he asserted, warning both Congress and BJP of political backlash from BCs.
