BRS MLC S Madhusudana Chari accused the Congress and BJP of long-standing betrayal of BCs by denying them reservations, resources, and representation. He demanded full implementation of the Kamareddy BC Declaration and warned of a backlash from BC communities.
The population of BCs is followed by the Scheduled Castes (17.43 per cent), Scheduled Tribes (10.45%), Backward Classes among Muslims (10.08%) and Other Castes (13.31%)
She said PCC president A Revanth Reddy had sold party tickets due for BCs to influential aspirants from upper castes. The Congress had allotted four of the eight general seats in Nizamabad to BCs in 2018. Aspirants from the backward castes were not considered even for a single seat this time.
BRS working president K T Rama Rao deemed it "unnecessary" to conduct a separate caste census for the minorities along with the BCs, asserting that it would harm both BCs and the minorities.
