Hyderabad: Former MP V Hanumantha Rao demanded that the State government install Dr BR Ambedkar’s statue at Panjagutta at the earliest.
Speaking at a round table conference organised by him with leaders from different political parties here on Monday, the former MP said despite several requests for the past three years, the State government was not taking any step to install the statue.
Former MP Harsha Kumar, TJS president Kodandaram, CPI State Secretary Chada Venkat Reddy and Congress leaders participated in the meeting.
Meanwhile, TPCC senior vice president Mallu Ravi accused Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao of trying to deceive Dalits in the name of Dalit Bandhu scheme.
Participating in a programme organised by Youth Congress at Indira Park, he said the Chief Minister had promised to allot three acres land to Dalits, besides double bedroom houses during elections. But these promises are yet to be fulfilled, he said, and demanded that the State government install the Ambedkar statue at Panjagutta.
