Karimnagar: The Congress government faced a severe backlash for disrupting school schedules to facilitate Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s public meeting in Vemulawada on Wednesday. District officials had allegedly directed private schools to deploy their buses to transport public and Congress cadre attending the public meeting, forcing schools to close for the day.
To compensate, the District Education Officer (DEO) has reportedly ordered private institutions to make the second Saturday of December as a working day.
Parents, who were informed via SMS from school managements, expressed outrage at the government’s decision, questioning why students’ education should suffer for a political party’s meeting. The incident fueled anger against the government, with many calling the decision dictatorial and misguided, causing inconvenience to ordinary citizens especially students.
