Congress government betrayed farmers: BRS leader RS Praveen Kumar
The BRS leader was also expressed his disappointment over recurring suicides in Gurukul residential welare schools. He pointed out a recent incident where a student ended his life in a government residential welfare school, emphasising the need for counselors in schools
Hyderabad: BRS leader RS Praveen Kumar launched a broadside at the Congress government, for betraying farmers and failing to safeguard students in welfare schools. He said the Congress government is exploiting farmers at Integrated Purchase Centers (IKP), where officials are reportedly under-weighing paddy by four kg per quintal.
“For about 30 quintals of yield per acre, farmers are losing Rs 3,500 due to under-weighing, and an additional Rs 46 per quintal is being charged towards labour charges,” he said. As a result, he stated that farmers are losing a total Rs 4,880 per acre whenever they sell their crop to the State government.
In a statement, Praveen Kumar reminded that farmers were also not receiving Rs 5,000 per acre as investment assistance under Rythu Bharosa during the Congress regime. “Thus, farmers are incurring a loss of around Rs 10,000 per acre under the Congress rule,” he said, adding that the Congress leaders were not only deceiving farmers, but also looting them.
The BRS leader was also expressed his disappointment over recurring suicides in Gurukul residential welare schools. He pointed out a recent incident where a student ended his life in a government residential welfare school, emphasising the need for counselors in schools. “Since last year, I have been urging Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to introduce a counselor system, but his inaction is costing lives,” he said.
He blamed the Congress regime for turning welfare schools into “platforms for violent deaths” and revealed that 55 students have died in these institutions over the past year. “How many more sacrifices are needed before the government wakes up?” he questioned.
