Siddipet: BRS leaders and workers staged multiple protests across Siddipet on Monday opposing the Congress government’s decision to seek a CBI probe into the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP).

Led by State secretary Radhakrishna Sharma, they fetched Godavari water from Ranganayaka Sagar and performed an abhishekam at the Martyrs’ Memorial in Rangadhampally. Later, they staged a rasta roko on Rajiv Rahadhari and burnt an effigy of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy.

Speaking on the occasion, Sharma accused the Congress government of attempting to harm Telangana’s interests and destabilise the BRS for political gain. Pointing to the presence of Godavari water in Ranganayaka Sagar, he asked how the water could have reached Siddipet, an upland area, without the Kaleshwaram project.

Accusing Revanth Reddy of conspiring to malign the image of former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao and former Minister T Harish Rao, Sharma said people of Telangana would not trust the Congress government, which he termed as indulging in a political conspiracy.

He further demanded that Revanth Reddy prioritise restoration works at the Medigadda barrage. He alleged that the government was allowing Godavari water to go to waste for political reasons at a time when reservoirs were running dry. The Congress regime, he said, would go down in Telangana’s history as “characterless”.

BRS cadre also organised similar protests across the district.
