Hyderabad: With the Congress high command adopting its own strategies in approving cabinet expansion, like the berth aspirants, a few Ministers are also spending anxious moments as speculations are rife over a cabinet reshuffle.

There is a strong buzz in Gandhi Bhavan that the high command was seriously exploring the possibilities of cabinet reshuffle. It is learnt that the AICC leaders had also sought feedback from a few senior leaders, over the performance of a few Ministers, when they had visited New Delhi recently.

Ever since this news broke out, a few Ministers have been worried. It may be recalled that a couple of Ministers had hit headlines for all wrong reasons with unwanted comments and decisions. These episodes had subjected the Congress party to a lot of embarrassment.

Further, AICC Telangana incharge Meenakshi Natarajan is holding parliamentary constituency wise meetings with leaders, MLAs and Ministers as well. During the meetings, several issues are being brought to her notice, besides lodging complaints over the state of affairs in different constituencies.

Though the State leadership is trying to sweep all these issues under the carpet, the Congress high command appears to have taken them seriously.

Amidst these speculations, despite nothing has been confirmed officially over seeking feedback from senior leaders, different theories are doing rounds in Gandhi Bhavan.

There is strong opinion in a section that the high command could spring a surprise while announcing cabinet expansion or even a couple of additions and deletions in the cabinet.

“Like last-minute announcement of actor-turned-politician Vijayashanthi’s candidature in the recent MLC elections, anything can happen. Ultimately, high command calls the shots and nothing can be ruled out,” a senior leader from the party said.

This apart, social justice has to be ensured in cabinet expansion. To accommodate a few MLAs from different communities in the cabinet, the party could explore the possibilities of making a few changes. This is another theory that is being discussed seriously in the Gandhi Bhavan.
