Nalgonda: Tension prevailed at Choutuppal Municipal Office here on Monday after internal differences among Congress corporators came to the fore and a section of corporators staged protest and raised slogans against Munugode MLA Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy.
The Corporators demanded that Chairperson post be offered to B Vani Viplav, who won from the 13th ward. The corporators charged that the Munugode MLA and his followers had deceived Vani Viplav after assuring to offer the Chairperson post.
Raising slogans against Rajgopal Reddy, Vani Viplav supporters staged a demonstration in front of the municipal office. They argued with Munugode MLA’s followers as to how could they offer the Chairperson post to a non-local Corporator Pavani Ramesh.
They stressed that Vani Viplav was a local resident and demanded that Chairperson post be offered to her. Heated arguments took place between Rajgopal Reddy’s supporters and Vani Viplav supporters over the issue.
The Special Meeting to elect the new Chairperson and vice Chairperson will be held at 12.30 pm.
