Hyderabad: Union Minister and BJP State president G Kishan Reddy charged that the Congress government was struggling to pay salaries for employees in rural areas and wondered how it could ensure development of villages.

Since last seven months, the State government had failed to arrange funds for establishing streetlights in GHMC limits and elsewhere. The revenue generated through sale of beer and brandy was being diverted and this reflected the financial situation of the State government, which was keen on securing more loans, he said.

In an informal chit chat with media persons here on Saturday, the union Minister said the BJP would fight the local bodies’ elections without any alliance with other parties. He also exuded confidence that the saffron party would emerge victorious in the three MLC elections.

Regarding the new BJP State president, he said any person, including an MP or MLA or those without any position could become the State president. It was not mandatory that the person should have RSS background. The party high command would select a candidate after considering the State leaders recommendations, he said.

Stating that BJP was not against River Musi development project, the union Minister however demanded the State government to execute the project without demolishing the houses of the poor.
