Mahabubnagar: Tension prevailed for a while at the Jadcherla police station on Thursday after a Congress leader created a ruckus, prompting SI Jayaprasad and constable Bheemesh to lodge a complaint against him for obstructing their duties and abusing them.

Bhootpur mandal Congress leader Srinivas Reddy, accompanied by his supporters, had gone to the station in connection with an accident case. While they were speaking to the constables, one of his supporters began recording visuals on a mobile phone. When the constables objected, Srinivas Reddy and his supporters argued with them, forcing SI Jayaprasad to intervene and bring the situation under control, according to reports.

The Congress leader then allegedly threatened and abused the SI and constable. Irked by his behaviour, the police briefly confined him to the lock-up, after which Devarkadra MLA Madhusudhan Reddy arrived at the station and mediated a truce.

However, SI Jayaprasad and constable Bheemesh later lodged a complaint against Srinivas Reddy. The Congress leader, in turn, filed a complaint against the police, accusing them of abusing him, reports said.
