Kumram Bheem Asifabad: A Block Congress leader in Bejjur mandal drew sharp criticism on Sunday after he blocked traffic by parking his jeep across the road, causing inconvenience to the public.
Bejjur Block Congress president Rachakonda Srivardhan came under fire for keeping his goods vehicle on the road leading into the mandal headquarters, which sees a weekly bazar on Sundays. He reportedly resorted to the act after a local objected to him cleaning side drains near his house without informing officials concerned.
For over 30 minutes, motorists and the public faced difficulty entering the mandal centre for essential purchases. A TSRTC bus was also forced to return without entering due to the blockade. Locals expressed their displeasure and demanded that the Congress initiate action against Srivardhan.
Police rushed to the spot, moved the jeep aside and cleared the road.
