Hyderabad: Senior Congress leader V Hanumantha Rao has lodged a complaint with Hyderabad Cybercrime officials alleging that unidentified persons posted on social media a morphed picture of him along with Sangareddy Congress MLA Jayaprakash Reddy and Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao with a caption saying the Congress leaders were supporting KCR.
In his complaint, Hanumantha Rao said the issue was tainting his political career and that the picture, which was shared through WhatsApp, was now viral on various social media platforms.
“This is false and very provocative and highly objectionable. I request the police to investigate who is spreading the fake news on me, which is causing damage to my political life and take necessary action against them,” Rao said in his complaint.
Rao, also met City Police Commissioner CV Anand and submitted the petition and requested necessary action.
The Cybercrime police said they were yet to register a case and that legal opinion was being sought.
