Suryapet: The Congress leaders held a day-long sit-in “Sathyagraha Deeksha” at Suryapet and Nalgonda demanding that the state government include treatment of Corona and black fungus in Aarogyasri scheme.
Led by District Congress Committee (DCC) president Cheviti Venkanna, the Congress leaders conducted the Sathyagraha Deeksha in Red Bhavan at Suryapet.
Speaking on the occasion, Venkanna said that the poor people, who tested positive for COVID-19, were struggling to get treatment in private hospitals and were forced to sell their properties to bear the cost of the treatment. Families of the corona patients were borrowing money as corporate hospitals were charging lakhs of rupees for the treatment. He wanted the state government to take stringent actions against the private hospitals, which were looting the patients by collecting overcharges.
He said that treatments of corona and black fungus should be brought under the coverage of Aarogya Sree, which would ensure free treatment to the patients in private hospitals also. He held the Centre and State government with responsible for the worsening situation in the second wave of COVID-19.
He said that the state government should extend COVID-19 vaccine to all free of cost. In Nalgonda, Congress leaders were sat in Satyagraha Deeksha near clock tower centre.
