Hyderabad: The Telangana Congress celebrated the ‘Sadbhavana Diwas’ at Charminar here on Friday, marking the 77th birth anniversary celebrations of former Prime Minister late Rajiv Gandhi. The Congress leadership held ‘Sadbhavana Yatra’ in various parts of the country to promote communal harmony and brotherhood among the people.
Rajiv Gandhi Sadhbhavana Yatra Commemoration Committee chairman and TPCC senior vice-president G Niranjan, and other committee members paid homage offering floral tribute to the portrait of Rajiv Gandhi.
Speaking on the occasion, G Niranjan recalled the services of the former Prime Minister and his encouragement for the innovations in science and technology in the country. He credited Rajiv Gandhi with numerous innovative initiatives in the country including encouraging communication technology, strengthening the Panchayat Raj system, and giving voting rights to youth who attained 18 years among others.
