Congress regime scam-ridden with a Nero at the helm, says Harish Rao
BRS leader T Harish Rao launched a fierce attack on Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, accusing him of corruption, administrative failure and negligence. He blamed the Congress government for the SLBC tunnel collapse, irrigation setbacks and alleged large-scale scams in the State.
Hyderabad: Tearing into Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy for turning the State into a scam-ridden regime in just two years, senior BRS leader and former minister T Harish Rao on Saturday accused him of inherent deceit, corruption and administrative failure.
He compared Revanth Reddy to a dog that does not change its nature even if seated on a golden throne, declaring that merely occupying the Chief Minister’s chair has not altered the Congress leader’s traits. Harish Rao challenged Revanth Reddy’s claim that not a single new ration card was issued during the 10-year BRS rule, pointing out that 6,47,479 new ration cards were approved and that rice supply was increased from 4 kg to 6 kg per person.
The BRS leader held the Congress government solely responsible for the collapse at the Srisailam Left Bank Canal tunnel project that claimed eight lives, and alleged that the tragedy occurred due to wrong decisions, negligence and reckless actions after the Congress came to power. He said the previous BRS government had spent Rs 3,892 crore and completed 11.48 km of work on the tunnel, while the present regime has pushed the project into limbo and has even failed to retrieve the bodies of victims trapped inside.
Harish Rao criticised the Chief Minister for failing to provide irrigation support to even a single acre in two years, despite grand talk on irrigation projects. He said Revanth Reddy remained a mute spectator while Andhra Pradesh illegally diverted Krishna river water and prepared DPRs for unauthorised projects.
Drawing a parallel with Roman emperor Nero, Harish Rao said that while Rome burns and people suffer, the Chief Minister is busy playing football and organising lavish events instead of addressing public problems. He alleged that the Congress regime is steeped in bribery, commissions and bundles, with the Chief Minister and ministers grabbing lands like termites and redistributing public resources only among party loyalists. He said the Congress had completely failed to implement most of the Six Guarantees and other manifesto promises made during the 2023 elections.
He questioned the motives behind the Telangana Rising Global Summit, hinting at large-scale financial irregularities. He asked how many crores worth of scams Revanth Reddy had planned in it.
