Congress rift deepens ahead of Mother Dairy polls in Nalgonda

Hyderabad: After the tussle among Congress MLAs in erstwhile Warangal, differences have now surfaced in erstwhile Nalgonda over the upcoming Mother Dairy elections.
Tungaturthy MLA Mandula Samuel on Friday strongly objected to Government Whip Beerla Ilaiah’s reported involvement in the elections scheduled for Saturday. Polls are being held for three Director posts, including two under Tungaturthy constituency.
Speaking to the media, Samuel alleged that some Congress leaders had struck a deal with the BRS, which had already been reported in newspapers.
“This is highly condemnable. While the Congress is striving to defeat the BRS, our own MLAs are digging a grave for the party. In Beerla Ilaiah’s constituency there are nearly 130 votes, and Alair should take responsibility for the election outcome,” Samuel said in a video now circulating on social media.
He further remarked that the DCC president and Mother Dairy Chairman, if related to contestants, could host celebrations, but extending support to the BRS amounted to “political prostitution” by Congress MLAs.
Warning Congress leaders to desist from such practices, the Tungaturthy MLA said their actions were damaging party interests.
“The DCC president and Mother Dairy Chairman hail from Beerla Ilaiah’s constituency, and the Government Whip must make his stand clear. If the BRS wins these elections, Ilaiah should resign,” Samuel demanded.
