Hyderabad: Normal life was thrown out of gear following heavy rains in the old city on Friday.
Roads in several areas such as Talabkatta, Lalithabagh, Uppuguda, Chatrinaka, Phool Bagh, Al Jubail colony, Afzalsagar, Mallepally, Bahadurpura and Engine Bowli were flooded due to heavy rains. Motorists were seen wading through knee-deep water at several places.
There were reports of water entering into the houses in low-lying areas of Yakutpura and Uppuguda in the evening. Business activity remained dull with people confining themselves to their homes during the day.
The Disaster Response Teams and the local GHMC personnel were seen struggling to clear the waterlogging on the roads.
AIMIM MLAs visited the localities affected by the rains and interacted with the people. Similarly, Majlis Bachao Tehreek party spokesperson visited a few localities around Yakutpura and urged the GHMC officials to clear water logging and blockages in the nala drain to facilitate free flow of rainwater.
