Nalgonda: Internal rifts have surfaced within the Congress in Nalgonda district following the resignation of Mother Dairy Chairman G Madhusudhan Reddy and the appointment of Prabhakar Reddy as his successor.
Madhusudhan Reddy resigned from the post, after which Prabhakar Reddy was appointed chairman on Thursday. The development has triggered speculation within party circles, with several leaders terming the move politically motivated.
Party sources said the change was aimed at curbing the influence of Alair MLA and Government Whip Beerla Ilaiah, allegedly at the behest of senior leaders in the district. Prabhakar Reddy is said to be a close aide of Munugode MLA Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy.
Before stepping down, Madhusudhan Reddy had reportedly raised concerns over financial constraints and the functioning of certain senior employees in Mother Dairy.
He alleged that some officials were involved in corruption and financial irregularities.
“Despite repeated instructions to transfer a few senior employees to protect the organisation, no action was taken. Frustrated by this apathy, I decided to quit,” he was quoted as saying.
Earlier, Legislative Council member Gutha Sukhender Reddy had also expressed concern over Mother Dairy’s financial condition and stressed the need for measures to streamline operations, particularly employee management.
