Hyderabad: BRS MLC K Kavitha said the Congress rule in Telangana, had dragged the State back by a century due to misgovernance.

She said Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy was running a government of deception, failing in all sectors while misleading people with empty promises.

Speaking at a press conference in Nizamabad on Thursday, Kavitha ridiculed the Congress leadership, stating that Revanth Reddy had become synonymous with lies.

She criticised the ruling party for its lack of financial planning, pointing out that even Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad admitted that electoral promises were made without understanding the State’s fiscal health.

She also questioned Rahul Gandhi’s silence on Telangana’s plight, while touring the country with his pocketbook of the Constitution.

Slamming the Congress over the distribution of welfare schemes, the BRS MLC said Rythu Bharosa, ration cards, and Indiramma houses were now being selectively distributed to Congress supporters instead of eligible beneficiaries under the guise of phased implementation.

She charged local Congress MLAs of treating welfare schemes as personal favours and reminded that during K Chandrashekhar Rao’s tenure, funds were transparently disbursed directly to beneficiaries.

“People revolted against the Congress government during the recent gram sabhas, for its selective favours. Except for claiming credit for works done by the previous BRS regime and renaming its schemes, the Congress government made no concrete work on its pending promises,” she said.

Highlighting the deteriorating situation in Telangana, she pointed to farmers struggling for urea, erratic power supply, and the stalled Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme’s Package-21 works that would have benefitted erstwhile Nizamabad district.

She also expressed outrage over students falling ill from contaminated food repeatedly in government schools and hostels, blaming the Congress for its inability to run Gurukuls set up by the previous BRS government.

On the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for turmeric crop, she demanded immediate intervention from BJP MP Dharmapuri Arvind and the Central government.

Urging the Congress government to wake up from its slumber, she warned that people would not tolerate governance built on falsehoods and neglect.
