Congress tried to suppress Statehood movement then, now seeks to erase KCR’s imprint: Prabhakar
Sangareddy MLA and BRS district president Chintha Prabhakar accused the Congress Party of attempting to erase the imprint of former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao from Telangana. Speaking at the Deeksha Diwas programme, he highlighted Rao’s leadership in the Statehood movement and his decade-long governance.
Sangareddy: Sangareddy MLA and BRS district president Chintha Prabhakar said the Congress party, which had tried to suppress the Telangana movement then, was now attempting to erase the imprint of former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao from Telangana.
Addressing the party cadre during the Deeksha Diwas programme at the party office here on Saturday, the Sangareddy MLA said Chandrashekhar Rao had left an indelible mark on Telangana by leading the Statehood movement from the front for 14 years and then taking up multiple development works during his 10-year regime.
Stating that Chandrashekhar Rao would forever remain in the people’s hearts, Prabhakar said what the Congress was attempting was stupid.
Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy had no moral right to speak on Telangana since he had pointed a gun at Telangana activists when the movement was at its peak. The dream of a separate Telangana was realised because Chandrashekhar Rao had launched the fast unto death protest on November 29, 2009, he said, adding that the BRS would continue to fight on the issues pertaining to the people and that Chandrashekhar Rao would return to power as Chief Minister as the people were fed up with the Congress.
BRS leaders also felicitated Telangana activists who participated in the 1969 movement. Earlier, they went on a rally from the MLA’s camp office to the BRS office. En route, they offered prayers at the martyrs’ memorial and garlanded the statue of Telangana Thalli.
Zaheerabad MLA K Manik Rao, BRS leaders M Bhupal Reddy, Chanti Kranthi Kiran and others were present.
