Hyderabad: In an attempt to deflect the blame from the State government, Congress leaders and officials gave different reasons for the hospitalisation of 30 students from Maganoor Zilla Parishad School (ZPHS). They have not only attempted to mislead the Telangana High Court and people of the State, but also added further confusion over the cause of food poisoning.
Initially, Makthal MLA V Srihari alleged that students fell sick after consuming food from outside the school. However, students whom he visited at the hospital, told him clearly that they fell sick after consuming food at the school and asked why he had lied to the media. The MLA had no option but to leave the spot, assuring to provide better treatment.
Later, a video was released on social media where the students rubbished the claims of the Makthal MLA, asking whether he had seen them eating outside food. They informed that the gate was locked and two teachers stood guard to ensure that students do not eat outside food.
“They served us overly cooked rice along with improperly cooked potato and brinjal curry. Soon after that we started vomiting and had stomach pain,” they said.
Meanwhile, Telangana State Planning Board vice-chairman Chinna Reddy came out with another explanation saying that the students fell sick after consuming food which was cooked in utensils which were not properly cleaned.
Amidst all this, the Additional Advocate General of the State informed the Telangana High Court, which took up the case for hearing, that the students were hospitalised after eating ‘Kurkure’, a packaged snack that was purchased from nearby shops.
