Jagtial: Senior Congress leader T Jeevan Reddy broke down while accusing the party leadership of doing injustice to him by denying municipal election tickets to his supporters.
Addressing party workers in Jagtial on Friday, Jeevan Reddy said he was being systematically sidelined within the party. He turned emotional during the interaction, with tears rolling down his cheeks.
Referring to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s earlier remarks on defections, Jeevan Reddy recalled that when Revanth Reddy was Leader of the Opposition, he had urged people to pelt stones at turncoat MLAs.
He alleged that the Chief Minister had now taken a contradictory stand by giving priority to defected MLAs after coming to power. Instead of resorting to violence, he said such leaders should be taught a lesson by defeating their supporters in the elections.
Claiming that leaders within his own party were working against him, Jeevan Reddy said attempts were being made to politically eliminate him.
“If anyone wants to reach me, they will have to cross my followers,” he said, adding that he had been subjected to severe harassment despite being in the final phase of his public life.
Taking a dig at Jagtial turncoat MLA Dr. Sanjay Kumar, the senior Congress leader alleged that the legislator was promoting his followers who had defected from the BRS, while ignoring long-time Congress workers. He further alleged that Sanjay Kumar continued to remain loyal to the BRS while campaigning under the Congress flag.
