Khammam: Congress won 24 municipal wards of the 32 wards in Edulapuram Municipality. BRS secured two wards; CPI in three, CPI (M) in two wards and an independent won one ward in the municipality.
It might be noted that in a teleconference Srinivas Reddy held with the employees unions prior to the elections, the leaders of the different unions had assured the minister that they would work hard for Congress victory.
The recorded audio of the teleconference was leaked to the media on February 10 by BRS district president Tata Madhusudhan. Several sections of the society expressed serious concerns at union leaders conduct wherein they acted as Congress workers.
Both BRS and BJP district leaderships have lodged separate complaints to the district administration against the Minister for using government employees to work for the Congress party and the union leaders for acting as Congress cadres.
Meanwhile, Congress has bagged all the five municipalities in the district. The ward-wise tally is as follows: Congress- 83, BRS-21, CPI (M)-3, CPI-4 and independents 6. Total wards in Wyra, Edulapuram, Sathupalli, Kallur and Madhira are 117.
