Constable arrested for stealing imitation Rolex during search in Hyderabad
A police constable attached to Film Nagar Police Station was arrested for misappropriating property during a search operation in Hyderabad. Constable Sriramula Sharan Kumar, assigned videography duties, allegedly stole an imitation Rolex wristwatch from the residence of an impersonation case accused.
Hyderabad: The Film Nagar Police on Friday arrested a police constable for dishonestly misappropriating property during an official search operation. The stolen item, an imitation Rolex wrist watch was recovered from his residence.
The incident occurred during the investigation of a case, when officers conducted a search at the residence of Bathini Shashikanth, accused in an impersonation case on November 25.
It was then that Constable Sriramula Sharan Kumar (PC 13169), who was assigned videography duties during the search, allegedly took the watch without recording it on the seizure memo.
Video footage captured by another constable clearly showed the suspect concealing the watch, violating procedures related to handling entrusted property.
Following internal verification, a new case was registered with Film Nagar Police Station. Sharan Kumar, currently attached to the SHO’s mobile driver, was arrested. He confessed during interrogation, leading to the recovery of the imitation Rolex watch.
