Hyderabad Zoo hosts gala birthday party for Prema the Rhino
Prema, the youngest one-horned rhinoceros at Nehru Zoo, celebrated her third birthday with a fruit-and-vegetable cake. The Vantara Zoo team joined the festivities and toured the zoo’s Safari Park and enclosures. Officials praised Hyderabad Zoo’s upkeep and congratulated staff for achieving ISO certification.

Hyderabad: Nehru Zoological Park threw a gala party for Prema, the youngest one-horned Rhinoceros, who celebrated her third birthday in the zoo premises here on Friday.
About 5 kg jumbo cake baked with fruits and vegetables was served to Prema as part of the celebrations, which had a special guest – Vantara Zoo Director Brij Kishor Gupta, and Hyderabad Zoo curator J Vasantha. The zoo is home to five one-horned Indian Rhinoceros – Suraj, Saraswathi, Sai Vijay, Nanda and Prema.
The Vantara Zoo team, which was in the city as part of a surprise visit, went around the zoo, including Safari Park complex and other endangered animal enclosures.
The visiting team appreciated the maintenance and upkeep. The team also appreciated the Hyderabad zoo management and staff members for achieving the ISO certification.
Zoo deputy curator M Barnoba, deputy director (vet), Dr. MA Hakeem, assistant director (Vet) Dr. P Srinivas Reddy, assistant curators Nazia Tabassum and M Laxman, senior biologist Dr. Laxmi Narayana, PRO HM Hanifulla and EO Deepak Tarun also participated.
