Construction and Demolition Waste Recycling Plant opened in Hyderabad

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said due to increased efforts by authorities, the waste collected in GHMC limits had increased from 3,500 metric tonnes to 7,000 metric tonnes per day.

Hyderabad: A Construction and Demolition (C&D) Waste Recycling Plant at Fathullaguda was inaugurated by Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister KT Rama Rao here on Friday.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said due to increased efforts by authorities, the waste collected in GHMC limits had increased from 3,500 metric tonnes to 7,000 metric tonnes per day. He also said the number of transfer stations had been increased to 100 compared to the earlier 70.


“In Hyderabad we are generating wealth out of waste. A 20 MW waste-to-energy plant has also been set up and another such plant with 28 MW capacity will soon come up,” the Minister said.

Musi Riverfront Development Corporation chairman and LB Nagar MLA D Sudheer Reddy, other elected representatives and GHMC officials were present.

“We will hold a series of meetings with builders associations and other stakeholders to make sure the construction and demolition waste is not thrown out in the open and is transported to this plant. Under the supervision of MAUD minister KT Rama Rao, setting up additional two plants in the city is also being planned ,” Sudheer Reddy said.
