Hyderabad: Construction of a bridge across Krishna River at Somasila village in Kollapur constituency will begin soon, said Roads and Buildings Minister Vemula Prashanth Reddy. He said the bridge will be constructed as part of the National Highway-167 notified by the Centre. A 170-km stretch of NH-167 is being developed between Kalwakurthy in Telangana to Nandyal in Andhra Pradesh.
Replying during the Question Hour in the Assembly on Monday, Prashanth Reddy said a survey is being carried out for the preparing detailed project report, following which the land acquisition will begin. The bridge construction is expected to be completed within nine months. He said 629 bridges have been sanctioned in the State, with a total budget of Rs 3,050 crore. Of this, 372 bridges have been completed. The construction of another 257 bridges is in progress and will be completed by June next year. “We have sanctioned 384 new bridges on behalf of the Roads and Buildings Department, 50 new bridges from NABARD, 43 from RDP and 119 from Roads and Buildings Non-Plan,” he said.
Responding to a question on mosquitoes and dengue cases in Hyderabad city, Finance Minister T Harish Rao said the dengue cases have come down from 13,361 cases in 2019 to 4,694 cases till date this year. He said the State government was taking various measures to control the mosquito menace in GHMC as well as other parts of the State. While temporary staff were being hired in the government hospitals to treat dengue cases, treatment will be provided in private hospitals under the Aarogyasri scheme. The government had already sanctioned Rs 132 crore for procuring equipment for the children’s hospitals.
