Telangana: Construction of EVM warehouses completed in 22 districts

Medak: Chief Electoral Officer (CEO)-Telangana, Sashank Goel said that they have completed the construction of godowns for storing EVMs and VVPATs in 20 out of 22 new districts. The Chief Electoral Officer inaugurated the godown in Medak town in the presence of Collector S Harish and Additional Collector Prathima Singh on Friday. The godown was built with a budget of Rs 1.05 crore.
Speaking on the occasion, Goel said that the security of the EVMs and VVPATs was very important for the conduction of the election in a transparent way. Saying that they have taken up the construction of godowns in 22 new districts, the CEO said they could complete 20 of them so far. He further said that the remaining two godowns in Kamareddy and Narayanraopet districts would be completed by the end of December. Stating that they have got a proposal to build a hall for the first level checking of EVMs and VVPATs with an outlay of Rs 53 lakhs, Goel said that they would grant the amount after going through proposals. He said that they will post the security at these godowns round the clock. Saying that the enrolment of booth-wise voters aged 18 years above was on in the State, the CEO said that the process would be completed by January 5.
