Adilabad: Police Martyrs Commemoration Week culminated across the erstwhile Adilabad district on Wednesday. Heads of the police forces belonging to Adilabad, Mancherial, Kumram Bheem Asifabad and Nirmal paid floral tributes to those who laid down their lives in the line of service.

In Adilabad, district Collector Sikta Patnaik, who was chief guest of the event, said that the sacrifices of the martyred officers were memorable forever. She opined that discharging duties with the police department was fraught with challenges and policemen are those who respond to any problem round the clock. She reminded that police played a vital role in containing the spread of Covid-19 pandemic.


The Collector, along with Superintendent of Police Vishnu Warrier, Municipal Commissioner Jogu Premender paid tributes to martyrs at a martyrs’ column by placing wreaths. They both lit a lamp, while armed forces performed ‘Shok Sastra’ as a mark of respect for their supreme sacrifice. They later handed over mementos to kin of the martyrs. A special memorial parade was organised to mark the day.

The Collector promised all support would be extended to family members of nine policemen who lost their lives while discharging duties. She promised to address challenges of the kin of the martyrs. She patiently listened to the woes poured out by the families. She requested them to bring their issues to her notice.

Meanwhile, a mega blood donation camp was held to mark the commomoration day in Mandamarri of Mancherial district. A large number of policemen came forward to give away their blood for patients of thalassemia, renal and sickle-cell diseases. DCP Uday Kumar Reddy along with Bellampalli ACP Raheman inaugurated the camp. He appreciated the policemen for organising the programme.

Mandamarri Inspector Adla Mahesh and his counterpart of Bellampalli Rural Jagadish and Tandur Inspector Babu Rao, Sub-Inspectors Bhumesh, Ravi Prasad, Ramulu, Devaiah, Sammaiah, Bhaskar, Shekhar Reddy, Manasa, Ramakanth, Prasanth Reddy and Komuraiah were present.
