Noida: A video showing a couple performing a dangerous stunt on a motorcycle on the Noida–Greater Noida Expressway has gone viral, prompting the local traffic police to issue a fine of Rs 55,000 for multiple traffic violations.

The 19-second clip, filmed on June 15, shows a woman sitting astride the motorcycle’s fuel tank while hugging the man who is driving. The stunt, captured by a passerby, sparked outrage on social media, with users demanding strict action against the duo.

Lakhan Singh Yadav, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Gautam Buddh Nagar, said both riders were penalized for violating traffic regulations. “The video surfaced on social media in which a boy and his co-rider were seen flouting traffic norms. A challan of Rs 55,000 has been issued to them,” Yadav said.

He also appealed to the youth to follow traffic rules to avoid legal consequences and prevent accidents. “Such acts are extremely risky and will invite strict penalties,” he added.

Local resident Rahul Chhonker condemned the stunt, stating: “These acts not only endanger the lives of the riders but also encourage others to replicate such behaviour, sometimes with more dangerous twists. It also creates a bad impression on families and the younger generation.”

Authorities have urged citizens to stay alert and report similar incidents to ensure stricter enforcement of road safety regulations.
