Mancherial: A couple was arrested by sleuths of cybercrime for allegedly duping the public under the guise of matrimony.

Ramagundam Commissionerate’s Cybercrime DSP M Venkataramana and Inspector J Krishnamurthy, in a statement, said that Erra Venkata Nagaraju from Eluru in Andhra Pradesh and his wife Ramancha Soujanya belonging to Muttaram mandal in Peddapalli district were apprehended for cheating a man from Mancherial district.


On being interrogated, the couple confessed to committing the offence by creating fake profiles of girls on a website, Telugumatrimony.com, to make fast money.

They admitted to inviting friend requests to men using profiles which had photos of beautiful girls. They revealed that they extracted Rs 17 lakh from an unmarried person of Mancherial under the pretext of medical expenses.
