Hyderabad: A couple, who allegedly threatened and extorted money from a private employee from the city through Facebook, was arrested by the Hyderabad Cybercrime police here on Thursday.

According to the police, the accused couple, Naveen (30) and K Sirisha (28), hailed from Mahabubnagar. With Naveen quitting his job due to ill health, they created a fake profile on Facebook and Sirisha sent a friend request to the victim, a resident of Bolarum. When he accepted the request, the couple started chatting with him on Facebook and later continued through SMS and WhatsApp messages. Later, using the chat messages, they started harassing and demanding money from the victim.

Based on a complaint, a case was booked and the two were nabbed from Mahabubnagar.
