Hyderabad: A couple and their teenaged daughter who were involved in four theft cases were arrested by the Kamatipura police at Chandulal Baradari here on Tuesday. The police recovered gold ornaments worth Rs 6.5 lakh from them.
The arrested were Zakiya Begum (43), a homemaker, Mohd Abdul Saleem (40), a vendor and their daughter Ayesha Siddiq (19), a domestic help. All belong to Vattepally in Mailardevpally.
According to the police, the trio did recce of residential colonies in Chandulal Baradari, Gulshan Nagar and Ghazi Banda and surroundings and search for houses with their doors open.
“They casually enter into such houses and steal any valuables they find randomly and walk away. While one commits the offence, others wait outside and keep a watch on the surroundings. If they are caught stealing by anyone, they tell they had come in search of a rented house,” said an official. The gang was earlier involved in similar cases in Santoshnagar, Bhavaninagar and Madannapet.
