Hyderabad: There are clear indications that Telangana has reached the end stage of the Omicron-driven Covid third wave, said Director of Public Health (DPH) Dr G Srinivasa Rao here on Tuesday.

The daily Covid infections and positivity rate has declined steadily in the last few days, an indication that the Covid third wave has reached its end stage, DPH said.

The Covid third wave lasted for close to 45-days between December and February in Telangana and has reached its end-stage. While the first Covid wave lasted for nearly 10-months, the Delta driven wave lasted for six months, the Omicron drive Covid wave ended in just 45-days.

“I urge the IT industry in Hyderabad and other sectors, which are still implementing Work From Home (WFH) to come-out of such restrictions. The positivity rate of daily Covid infections has dropped to less than 5 percent and daily Covid infections have dropped to around 1300 positive cases, which is a clear sign that the Omicron wave in Telangana has reached its end stage,” Dr Srinivasa Rao said

“It is clear that Covid infections are on the decline in Telangana and the Omicron wave has almost ended. The positivity rate has also dropped in the last few days. I urge people of all walks of life to start normalising their lifestyle but at the same time keep taking basic precautions, which are very important. I urge people to get vaccinated, which is very important,” Dr Srinivasa Rao said.
