Khammam: Covid-19 vaccination dry run was conducted successfully at 65 centres in erstwhile Khammam district on Friday. In Khammam, the dry run was conducted at 35 centres. The District Collector RV Karnan along with Additional Collector (Local Bodies) Snehalatha Mogili visited the centres in Wyra and Konijerla mandals.

He inspected waiting rooms, vaccination rooms and observation rooms and checked the list of persons identified and registered for first phase vaccination. He said the dry run was meant to test the mechanisms laid out for Covid-19 vaccination roll-out in the health system and to assess operational preparedness.

Similarly in Kothagudem, the mock immunisation exercise was conducted at primary health centres (PHCs) in 23 mandals and seven sub-centres. The District Collector MV Reddy visited a PHC at Chandrugonda in the district.

For every centre, 25 staff was deputed and the vaccine might be available in the district in a week’s time. In the first phase, around 13,000 health workers have been identified for vaccination, he informed.

Reddy dismissed the rumours that were doing rounds about the possibility of falling sick after getting covid-19 vaccine shot. He noted that there was no need to fear about the vaccination and it helps the individuals to fight the coronavirus.
