Mancherial: Different political combinations are being worked out for the ensuing municipal polls. The CPI, which has been friendly with the Congress elsewhere, has decided to join hands with the BRS in Mancherial district, giving a jolt to the Congress.

As per an understanding reached with the BRS, the CPI would contest in eight to ten wards in Kyathanpalli municipality, the BRS district president Balka Suman said here on Saturday. He, along with CPI state secretary Kalaveni Shankar, addressed the media persons in Kyathanpalli.

Briefing details of consultations between the two parties, Suman revealed that the BRS and CPI had joined hands for the development of the town and to fight against the Centre over anti-public policies.

He regretted that the Kyathanpalli civic body was not seeing growth in various facets, with the Congress stalling developmental activities. He alleged that interference by Congress leaders had increased in the administration of SCCL and that the party had slashed profits meant for coal miners. He accused the party of looting the state-owned coal mining company and weakening its financial condition.

The former government whip lamented that the existence of SCCL was at stake following widespread corruption by leaders of the Congress. He charged that the Congress had failed to keep its poll promises and had duped the electors. He urged the public to cast their votes in favour of BRS and CPI candidates in the municipal polls.
