Hyderabad: The Communist Party of India (Marxist) three-day Central Committee meeting commenced here on Friday. Apart from the party’s draft political agenda, the Central Committee members will discuss the strategies to be adopted for elections to be held in different States shortly.

The draft of the party’s political agenda would be discussed for submitting at the party’s 23rd Congress to be held in April at Kannur, Kerala. Senior leaders including Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, former Tripura Chief Minister Manick Sarkar, Polit Bureau members Prakash Karat, BV Raghavulu, Brinda Karat and Central Committee members will participate in the meeting.

During the meeting, a draft of the party’s political agenda would be discussed and would be presented before the public. Suggestions, feedback or amendments can be shared by the party members with the party’s Central Committee, CPI (M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury said.

“One month’s time will be allocated for the party members to share their views and suggestions. This is the party’s internal democracy. After amendments, the political agenda report will be presented before the 23rd All India Congress,” said Yechury.

CPI (M) State General Secretary Thammineni Veerabhadram said the proposed meeting of Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan with Telangana Malayalee Association members on Saturday will now be conducted online due to Covid. The Kerala Chief Minister will address the Telangana Malayalee Association members virtually at 6 pm on Saturday, he added.
