CPI MLA exposes lapses in crop loan waiver, opposes sale of UoH land
Speaking in Assembly, Sambasiva Rao reveals that at Nidigonda village in Raghunathapalli mandal of Jangaon district, out of 554 farmers, only two received loan waiver, while 552 were excluded due to Aadhaar discrepancies
Hyderabad: In a rare criticism from a Congress ally, CPI MLA Kunamneni Sambasiva Rao lashed out at the State government’s faulty crop loan waiver implementation, citing major lapses that left farmers in distress.
Speaking in the Assembly, he revealed that at Nidigonda village in Raghunathapalli mandal of Jangaon district, out of 554 farmers, only two received the loan waiver, while 552 were excluded due to Aadhaar discrepancies.
Reminding that even Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao admitted the errors, he demanded immediate corrective measures.
Sambasiva Rao also strongly opposed the government’s decision to sell 400 acres of the University of Hyderabad, urging it to explore alternative revenue sources instead of auctioning public assets. He suggested regularising land occupied by the poor for housing, arguing that this would generate revenue through a regularisation fee while also benefiting thousands of families.
He cited that at least 30,000 such houses exist in Hyderabad under CPI’s initiatives.
Sambasiva Rao also urged the government to reclaim land encroached by land mafias and auction them, rather than targeting land meant for public institutions.
