Hyderabad: The CPI State unit has demanded that the Congress government issue ration cards, complete the Layout Regularisation Scheme and fulfill the electoral promises made to the people.

Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy had openly announced that even if he was cut into pieces, not a single additional rupee could be released for welfare and development works. In that case, the Chief Minister should explain how funds would be generated for implementing new schemes, CPI MLA Kunamneni Sambasiva Rao said on Tuesday. The CPI is an ally of the Congress in the State.

People, especially the farming community, were already worried over the partial implementation of old welfare schemes. At this juncture, the Chief Minister was announcing new schemes and he should also disclose the sources for implementing new schemes effectively, he demanded.

The CPI MLA also slammed the Congress government for failing to explore new income sources for taking up welfare and development measures.

“If the State government fails to consider the recommendations and suggestions of experts and senior officials, it will not augur well for the State,” Sambasiva Rao said.

Lashing out at the Centre for its discrimination towards Telangana, the CPI MLA wanted the BJP-led Union government to spell out its stand on extending assistance for the Palamuru Rangareddy Lift Irrigation scheme.
