Initially launched in 2020, the LRS scheme received 25.67 lakh applications. While the previous BRS government cleared around nine lakh applications, the remaining applications were taken up after the Congress came to power.
The previous BRS government initiated SUDA in October, 2017 covering 573 square kilometres with Khammam Municipal Corporation and Wyra Municipality falling under its jurisdiction
While previous governments have implemented the LRS on many occasions in the past, the Congress is looking at generating nearly twice the income of the previous government from the scheme.

There has been tremendous response to the scheme and so far more than 19.33 lakh applications have been received including over 2.58 lakh applications which were received by 9.00 PM on Thursday.
