Nalgonda: CPI(M) State secretariat committee member Julakanti Ranga Reddy on Monday urged the State government to withdraw its diktat directing the farmers not to cultivate paddy crop for Yasangi crop season.

Speaking at a party meeting at Doddi Komaraiah Bhavan in Nalgonda, Ranga Reddy said that the Centre and the State governments have intentionally adopted delaying tactics by indulging in allegations and counter allegation on paddy procurement. The decision of the Centre and State governments to impose restrictions on paddy cultivation was most objectionable and would severely impact the interests of the farmers in the State.

He questioned that how the farmers could take up alternative crops in the Yasangi season without soil tests of their agricultural fields. The statements made by the Centre and State government lacked a plan for the Yasangi crop season. He urged Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao to lead an all-party delegation to New Delhi to mount pressure on the Centre for procurement of paddy by Food Corporation of India(FCI) as soon as possible.
