Bhongir: Coming down heavily on the Congress government for failing to uphold the seventh guarantee made during the elections to protect democracy, the CPI(M) state unit Secretary Thammineni Veerabhadram on Tuesday wanted the government to address the issues before the people. Otherwise, it would incur ire of the people.

Talking to media persons after a party district unit meeting at Choutuppal, he voiced concern over the deteriorating state of affairs in the state. Recalling that the CPM Party had supported Congress in all constituencies except where its own candidates were in the fray during the last elections, but the government continued its arrests targeting the CPI(M) activists

He emphasized that the CPM would continue to fight on behalf of the people against such actions.

Thammineni accused the Congress government of not consulting with the opposition on key issues, including the Musi River rejuvenation, Ramagundam forest issue, and Lagicherla land issue. He questioned whether these issues fall outside the realm of democracy. While stating that the CPM was no for the Congress government to collapse, Thammineni urged the government to correct its flaws. He warned that if anti-people policies continue, protests will be inevitable.
