Crime brief: Hyderabad woman abducted by kin; Traffic Inspector assaulted

A 20-year-old woman who married her long-time friend Praveen against her family's wishes was kidnapped from their home in Keesara by her parents and relatives. The attackers used chilli powder and sticks to overpower Praveen and his family before abducting the woman.

Hyderabad: A young woman, who married her long-time friend, against the wishes of her family, was kidnapped from her house at Keesara by her parents and relatives on Wednesday.

The woman, aged around 20 years, was acquainted with a man, Praveen, for a long time as both the families of the woman and Praveen lived at Narsampalle village in Keesara. Four months ago, Praveen and the woman got married and started living separately.

A few weeks ago, Praveen shifted to the house of his parents located in the Narsampalle village and began living there.

On Wednesday morning, the parents and relatives of the woman came to the house of Praveen in a car. “The relatives of the woman barged into the house and sprinkled chilli powder on the face of Praveen and his family members. They all then dragged the woman away and took her away in a car. Some people also attacked Praveen and his family with sticks when they tried to rescue the woman,” said Keesara police.

Praveen later approached the police who, based on his complaint, registered a case and formed special teams to trace and rescue the woman. The entire incident was captured on CCTV cameras installed in the house.

Praveen and his family members, who were injured in the attack, were shifted to a local hospital for treatment.

 

Pillion rider killed in crane collision near Shamshabad

A man died in a road accident at Shamshabad road on the city outskirts on Wednesday afternoon.

According to the police, Chitti Babu (38), a resident of Madanapally thanda in Shamshabad, was going on a bike along with his two friends. Babu was riding pillion on the bike and heading towards Palamakul village.

“On the way, a crane hit the bike from behind. The trio fell on the road, and Babu suffered serious head injuries and died on the spot,” said Shamshabad police. The police shifted the injured persons to a hospital for treatment.

A case was registered against the crane driver and an investigation started.

 

Traffic Inspector assaulted over parking row in Secunderabad

A traffic inspector working with Hyderabad Police was allegedly assaulted by an auto-rickshaw driver and some other people following an argument over vehicle parking in Secunderabad on Wednesday.

According to reports, R Raghunath, Inspector, Mahankali Traffic Police Station in Secunderabad, was on duty when he noticed an auto-rickshaw driver had parked his vehicle on road, causing traffic obstruction.

When the traffic policemen directed the auto driver to remove the vehicle, the driver picked up an argument and attacked the traffic policemen and the Inspector, resulting in injuries to him.

The Inspector later approached the local police and made a complaint against the auto driver and his accomplice. Both of them were taken into custody.
