Crime brief: Suicide in Amberpet, two killed in road mishaps, major fire at Katedan godown
A 27-year-old woman in Amberpet, Hyderabad, died by suicide allegedly due to dowry harassment by her husband. Police have registered a case and are investigating claims.

Hyderabad: A housewife died by suicide at Amberpet allegedly due to her husband’s harassment for dowry. The woman is identified as B Meena alias Ayesha Siddiqua (27).
According to the police, Meena married Mohd Siraj, an auto rickshaw driver in 2024 against the wishes of her family, and later changed her name to Ayesha Siddiqua.
On Friday night, Siraj went out to watch the Ganesh idol procession and did not return home. His wife called him on the phone asking Siraj to return home immediately else she would commit suicide.
“When Siraj returned home around 6.10 am, he noticed his wife hanging from the ceiling fan and found her dead,” said Amberpet Inspector, T Kiran Kumar.
The woman’s family members told the police that Siraj was allegedly harassing Ayesha Siddiqua, for dowry and threatened her, saying he would marry another woman. The woman reportedly slipped into depression and may have taken her own life, said the police.
A case has been registered.
Man dies in bike mishap near Pahadishareef
A 20-year-old man died in a road accident on Pahadishareef road, on the city outskirts, on Sunday.
The victim, Mohammed Zaki, worked at a private hospital. On Sunday morning, around 7 am, he was travelling with his cousin Obaidullah on a bike towards Shaheennagar.
“Zaki drove his bike in a rash and negligent manner at high speed. He rammed the scooter into the road divider and sustained serious injuries. He died on the spot,” said Balapur police.
The cousin is undergoing treatment at a private hospital. A case has been registered.
Young woman dies in Langar Houz crash
A 20 year-old girl was killed and four others injured, one of them critically, when the car they were travelling in rammed into a police vehicle.
The victim, Kashvi Vijaywargi, a resident of Filmnagar, was accompanied by her friends Akshath, who was driving the car, Riya, Likhitha and Tanshik, were heading from Bapu Ghat towards Langar Houz.
“When they reached the Langar Houz flyover, Akshath, who was in an inebriated condition, rammed the car into a police vehicle at a high speed,” said Langar Houz Inspector, B Venkat Ramulu.
Three police personnel including K Satyanarayana, Detective Inspector of Langar Houz police station, who were in the police vehicle, suffered minor injuries as their vehicle collided with a DCM lorry ahead of it.
“The policemen then managed to exit the on-duty vehicle and pulled the injured persons from the car. All five Kashvi, Akshanth, Tanshik, Riya, and Likitha were shifted to hospital where doctors pronounced Kashvi dead,” said the Inspector.
Meanwhile, the police have registered a case and are investigating.
Fire destroys plastic godown in Katedan
Property worth several lakhs of rupees was destroyed when a fire broke out at a godown in the Tatanagar area of Katedan on Sunday. No casualties were reported.
According to the police, the fire broke out at a plastic godown around 4 pm. Upon receiving information, police teams rushed to the spot and alerted the fire officials. Two fire tenders reached the location and doused the flames. Officials suspect the fire may have started due to a short circuit.
