CtrlS bags Assocham award for sustainability excellence in energy management

Hyderabad: CtrlS, Asia’s largest Rated-4 Hyperscale Data Center, has won the Assocham award for ‘Sustainability Excellence in Energy Management’. CtrlS joins select awardees that include organisations, projects who have adopted sustainable practices to efficiently manage energy consumption and reduce carbon footprint. The Gachibowli Data Center of CtrlS has been chosen for this award.
The current and past winners of Assocham awards include SAP, Tata Consultancy Services, L&T, Cognizant, Ashok Leyland, ONGC, SBI Life Insurance, JK Tyre, Tata Capital, ICICI Foundation, NTPC, PayTM and others who have made efforts to integrate economic, environmental, and social objectives alongside the company’s operations and growth.
BV Naidu, chairman of Assocham Southern Region & Karnataka State Development Council, said, “We congratulate CtrlS Datacenters for bagging the award for excellence in energy management and making a positive impact during the Covid-19 Pandemic from March 2020 through their innovative and sustainability initiatives in their data center operations.”
Sridhar Pinnapureddy, founder & CEO, CtrlS said, “This award stands as a testimony to our commitment to energy efficiency and sustainability efforts. The average surface temperature has increased to 1.8 degree Celsius between the year 1800 and now, leading to changes in weather patterns and disturbing balance of nature. Our 80 innovations in the energy efficiency space have thus focused on reducing carbon emissions, deploying clean energy, reducing air pollution, recycling e-waste, eliminating paper usage, conserving water, and recycling the same.”
CtrlS said the company aims to be carbon neutral and believes in handing over a safer, greener, and better earth to the next generation and hence, ‘Caring for Planet Earth’ is an integral part of CtrlS DNA. The company has undertaken 200 innovations and 25 green initiatives to reduce carbon footprint and dependency on fossil fuels.
CtrlS is working on reducing electricity consumption, water conservation and re-cycling of waste of every sort. The company aims at being a paperless office, eliminate plastic usage, reduce carbon dioxide, increase usage of renewable energy, and waste management.
The company is also building a solar plant spread across 500 acres, the largest ever by an Indian data center aimed at replacing conventional sources of energy, this is a part of the clean energy drive by the company.
