Hyderabad: The raging Covid pandemic, fuelled further by the Omicron variant, has now hit the city’s iconic Numaish with the rising number of cases forcing the Exhibition Society to pull the shutters down on the event, also known as the All India Industrial Exhibition 2022.
The society had earlier announced that the event was being postponed till January 10, but with the situation continuing to be grim, Society secretary Aditya Margam informed that the exhibition would be suspended for this year in view of the pandemic across the country and also in accordance with the orders issued by the government.
“A letter was received from the Hyderabad Police Commissioner asking us to close down the exhibition in view of the orders issued by the State government banning meetings, rallies and mass gatherings. For now, the ‘Numaish’ is closed,” said Aditya Margam. The society will at a later date decide on conducting the event later in the year depending on the situation, he added.
