Hyderabad’s women safety narrative faces scrutiny after CP Sumathi’s undercover midnight operation in Dilsukhnagar exposed widespread harassment, raising larger questions about policing, misogyny and women’s safety in public spaces after dark.

The Hyderabad She Teams, as part of heightened women’s safety measures during the 85th Nampally Exhibition, apprehended 264 individuals for harassment and misconduct. Continuous surveillance and decoy operations were conducted from January 1 to February 15.

The 46-day All India Industrial Exhibition, popularly known as Numaish, concluded at Nampally on Sunday. Over 1,050 traders participated, attracting lakhs of visitors. Clearance sales after the closure drew fresh crowds seeking bargains.

Numaish 2026 will open on January 1 at Nampally, inaugurated by Deputy CM Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka. The 45-day exhibition will feature over 1,000 traders, food stalls, amusement zones, and security measures to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience.

Of them, two persons were sentenced to two days imprisonment and one suspect was sentenced to one day imprisonment
