Hyderabad: The customs officials at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA), Shamshabad were shocked at the sight of two exotic snakes in the luggage of two women passengers on Sunday night.

The incident caused a brief stir at RGIA airport in Shamshabad, which otherwise is known for seizures of gold, drugs and even sometimes ammunition.

According to available information, the two passengers had reached Hyderabad by a flight from Bangkok with the serpents kept in a separate basket.

However, when the aircraft arrived at RGIA, the customs officials decided to inspect the baskets and were shocked at the sight of the snakes.

These snakes, believed to be exotic and venomous, were found in the luggage. The two women were detained for questioning. The snakes were rescued.

Authorities are investigating if only these women were involved or if they are acting on somebody’s instructions.
