Cyberabad Cybercrime cops crack 5 cases, nab 19 in a week
Cyberabad Cybercrime officials cracked five cases during a week-long operation, arresting 19 offenders, including nine linked to online trading scams. Courts issued 93 refund orders, returning Rs 47.14 lakh to victims. A major case involved an IT employee cheated of Rs 81.55 lakh.

Hyderabad: The Cyberabad Cybercrime officials solved five cases, leading to the arrest of 19 offenders from multiple States during a week-long drive between November 26 and December 2. Of the arrests, nine were linked to online trading fraud.
Meanwhile, the police also secured 93 refund orders from courts in 39 cases, enabling the return of nearly Rs 47.14 lakh to victims.
The major case of the week involved an IT employee who was cheated of Rs 81.55 lakh through a fake trading platform and a coordinated WhatsApp group scam. The victim was lured with fabricated profits and later told his funds were frozen, prompting him to make repeated transfers. When he tried to withdraw, the fraudsters demanded an additional Rs 35 lakh.
Following a complaint, case was booked and two fraudsters from Maharashtra were arrested for their alleged role. Cyberabad Police advised citizens to avoid unverified trading apps or groups and report cyber fraud immediately to the national helpline 1930.
