Hyderabad: The Cyberabad Police’s Economic Offences Wing on Friday arrested a five-member gang on charges of forging land documents and cheating a realtor to the tune of Rs 8.5 crore. The arrested were identified as P Adinarayana Murthy (51), a realtor from Madhapur, T Venkata Murali Krishna (43) from Gajularamaram, P Yadaiah (45), a realtor from Keshampet, K Ramu (40) from Shadnagar and V Ashok (33), a documentation writer from Maheshwaram.

According to the police, Murthy and his associates had taken a proposal to a real estate dealer, saying they would sell 40 acres at Golluru village, Maheshwaram mandal of Ranga Reddy district with the promise that they would arrange registration of the lands in his favour if he was interested and paid them.

They showed ownership documents including the land documents and pattadar passbooks. After mutual discussions, they agreed to sell the lands to get the sale deed directly registered
in the realtor’s name from the owners.

“The sale amount was fixed at Rs 1.4 crore per acre and the total consideration amount is Rs 56 crore for 40 acres. On seeing the agreement of sale, the complainant paid an advance of Rs 8.5 crore. However, after paying the advance, the sale deed was not executed as promised,” Cyberabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar said.

After his repeated requests, they sent a photocopy of the registered sale deed to his mobile showing that a sale deed was executed and supposedly registered in his name. However, they went on dodging the issue without giving him the original documents and cheated him.

Suspecting their claims, the complainant verified the particulars of the sale deed document at the Revenue Office and found that the sale deed was fake and that no such sale deed was ever registered on his name. Based on the complaint, the Kukatpally police booked a case which was further transferred to the EOW.
